Keep distance, contain only if safe, and call a licensed rehabilitator — do not raise wild animals yourself.

Do not chase or corner the animal. Note the location, species if known, and visible injuries, then contact a wildlife rehabilitator or local authority.
If instructed to contain it, use a ventilated box lined with a towel and keep the animal dark, quiet, and warm — no food or water unless told otherwise.
Never keep wild animals as pets. They need specialized care and often legal permits for rehabilitation and release.
